This is what I mean by ‘carpet film’ Its a protective covering that was supposedly installed by the factory. Normally this is removed but the previous owners decided not to. Unfortunately it does little to actually protect the carpet! The color was especially faded under there, plus the stuff is a disaster to remove after its been glued on for 20 years!
